Learn how to safely fly a drone through classroom and hands-on instruction, in this 5-day program designed to help you to pass the FAA Remote Pilot certification test. With a small student-teacher ratio and instruction by certified flight instructors, an FAA aviation safety inspector, a professional Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operator, and volunteers from the Academy of Model Aeronautics, this program is fun and educational… and a great way to prepare for your lift-off. The ACE UAS Academy provides students with the aeronautical knowledge, standards, and skills to safely operate small drones and prepares students to take the FAA UAG written test for a Remote Pilot Certificate with a small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) rating. The course will cover regulations for model aircraft operations and commercial sUAS operations, requirements and guidelines for operating in the National Airspace System, aviation weather, emergency procedures, sUAS loading, weight, and balance, radio communication procedures, aeronautical decision making, and more. The final day will include off-site hands-on instruction in small UAS operations.
