The Barnum Museum

The Barnum Museum is in downtown Bridgeport and is the last surviving building attributed to the American visionary entrepreneur and entertainer Phineas Taylor Barnum. Open Thurs-Fri 11-3 and Summer Saturdays from June 2- September 2018.

 

Blue Spruce Farm

Blue Spruce Farm is a small riding facility offering friendly family-oriented barn centered horseback riding lessons, therapeutic riding, trail rides, and more. Some horse rides even include an optional refreshing wade in a pond!

 

Calf Pasture Beach

There's so much to do at Calf Pasture Beach for the whole family! There are volleyball courts, basketball courts, bocce, boat rentals, a skate park, playground and splash pad, and a sailing school - all by the water. 

 

The Connecticut Audobon Society

The Connecticut Audubon Society manages 19 wildlife sanctuaries encompassing almost 3,300 open acres of open space in Connecticut and educates over 200,000 children and adults annually. With a location in Fairfield, this is the perfect place to bring the family for a walk on the trails or visiting their wildlife sanctuary. Open Mon-Sat 10-3.

 

The Connecticut Beardsley Zoo

The Connecticut Beardsley Zoo located in Bridgeport is an exciting place for animal lovers to spend the day learning about all their favorite creatures. The zoo has fact sheets, photos, and scavenger hunts. Open daily from 9am - 4pm.

 

The Discovery Museum and Planeatarium

The Discovery Museum and Planetarium located in Bridgeport, is a hands-on science museum that serves as both a tourist destination and an educational resource for area families, schools, and other groups. The museum has three floors of hands-on exhibits for young scientists and engineers to explore. Open Tues-Sun 10-5.

 

Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum 

The Discovery Museum and Planeatarium also has an Adventure Park with ziplinning and climbing! The Adventure Park’s 13 “treetop trails” consist of about 200 platforms installed in the trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood, and rope to form “crossings” of different kinds including the ever-popular zip lines. Climbers wear harnesses which are doubly secured to safety cables using the Park’s own “always locked on” climbing system of interlocking carabineers (coupling links). Before venturing onto the trails, climbers receive a thorough orientation.

 

Earthplace

The Earthplace located in Westport provides hands-on, nature-based learning experiences throughout childhood into young adulthood. Earthplace has 2.5 miles of trails across 74 acres of protected sanctuary to explore with the family. The building hours are Mon-Sat 9-5 and Sun 1-4. The grounds are open dawn to dusk year-round.

 

Jennings Beach 

Jennings Beach is the perfect beach to take the kids for an all-day beach trip! There is a playground for the kids, volleyball poles, a food concenssion, and more. You can also watch sailboats by the marina! 

 

The Maritime Aquarium

The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk features exhibits including a variety of sharks, stingrays, harbor seals, sea turtles, game fish, jellies, crabs, lobsters, mollusks and more. Open every day 10-5. Starting July 1- Labor day open until 6.

 

Cruises at the Maritime Aquarium

Along with your visit to the Aquarium, set sail on a Marine Life Encounter cruise! Cruises explore the area's wildlife and nature in 2.5 hours.

 

My Three Sons

My Three Sons located in Norwalk is a 22,000 square-foot family entertainment center that consists of more than 100 games and video simulators and rides, back light mini golf, and an inflatable for ages 5 and younger, and a laser tag arena flooded with fog. Open Mon-Thurs 12-7; Fri 12-9; Sat 10-9; Sun 10-8.

 

Sherwood Island State Park

Sherwood Island State Park is Connecticut's oldest park. Along with miles of beaches for swimming, there is also a picnic area, 9/11 memorial, bird watching and nature walks. The Nature Center also hosts various programs and events. 

 

The Stepping Stones Museum for Children

The Stepping Stones Museum for Children located in Norwalk is dedicated to early childhood education. The museum offers a variety of fun activities for the family, ranging from various daily programs to birthday parties. Memorial Day- Labor Day open 7 days a week 10-5.
